Will Apex run on a Windows 7 based PC?

Edit 7/29/2014: If you are installing Apex 10.8 or above you do not need to worry about these installation options. Simply install Apex from the installation CD (or network share).

Yes! Apex works great on Windows 7. To set up Apex please see the Using Apex with Windows Vista topic.

On Windows 7 Professional or better you have an even simpler way to install Apex. You can run Apex in Windows XP Mode.

We are still researching all of the possible variations of installing Apex and the database server. In the meantime, here are a couple caveats:

  • You may have problems related to Administrative privileges if you are running both the Apex program and the database server on the same machine. If they are on separate machines there is no problem.
  • You may need to set up Apex to "Run as Administrator".

I will post more information as it becomes available.
